NORWALK, CT (WFSB) -
A crash on the Merritt Parkway Friday afternoon sent two people to the hospital with serious injures.
The Norwalk Fire Department was called to an one-car accident near exit 38 just after 1:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found that a Lexus SUV had smashed into a 30' tall tree and flipped over. The car came to rest on its side against the fallen tree, fire officials said in a release.
The two occupants helped out of the SUV by some passing motorists and then transported to Norwalk Hospital where their conditions are unknown at this time.
The accident caused a traffic jam and forced police to close the entrance ramp while the investigation was being conducted.
State police is investigating the cause of the accident.
