VERNON, CT (WFSB) -
A woman from Ashford has died after an overnight crash on Interstate 84 in Vernon.
State police said Jeanne Krapf, 52, of Ashford, was killed after her car was struck by a wrong way driver.
It happened just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning on the westbound side of the highway near exit 64.
State police said they received several 911 calls about a wrong way driver traveling east in the HOV lane on the westbound side of the highway.
The driver of the car traveling in the wrong direction was identified by police as Giselle Garcia, 31, of Hartford. She was taken to St. Francis Hospital by LifeStar medical helicopter. Her current condition remains unknown.
Officials have not said if Garcia will face any charges in connection to the crash.
Police said both women were wearing their seatbelts.
