More than 200 accidents being investigated on state highways during holiday weekend

MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) -

State police have been busy over the Labor Day weekend where they have investigated more than 200 accidents including one fatal in Vernon.

Police have been called to 208 accidents since Friday with people being injured in 49 of them including one fatal. Jeanne Krapf, 52, of Ashford, was killed after her car was struck on I-84 near exit 64 by Giselle Garcia, 31, of Hartford just after 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, police said.

Police have arrested 54 people for DUI and handed out 209 tickets for seatbelt violations and wrote tickets for 1,586 drivers for speeding.

Drivers are being asked to report any suspected drunk drivers and reckless behavior.
