Here is one of the men who broke into the Salem Valley Farms Ice Cream Company.
SALEM, CT (WFSB) -
Police in Salem are investigating a robbery that occurred at a beloved ice cream shop in business since 1988.
Some time Sunday night, men broke into the Salem Valley Farms Ice Cream Company on Darling Street and stole $100 and caused a lot of physical damage inside the store, according to their Facebook page.
Store officials said this isn't the first time the store has been robbed. During Memorial Day weekend 2010, $20,000 along with a safe were stolen and never recovered.
After the robbery, a new security camera was installed. On Sunday night, the surveillance camera got video of the robbery.
"They tried really hard to get in the safe," said owner Jane Sacciaferro.
According to the store's Facebook post, the men are driving a red cab pickup truck with lights on the top of it. Police located the vehicle abandoned on the side of the road; however, it has been unregistered for years.
Fox Hopyard Golf Course was also robbed about one hour later in the same fashion and the same pickup truck was spotted leaving the scene. The suspects took the safe and an undisclosed amount of money.
"Get a job and stop stealing things," Sacciaferro said in a message to the suspects. "This is our money."
Anyone with information about the break-in and robbery is asked to call Connecticut State Police Troop K at 860-537-7500.
