NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -
A store clerk was shot during an armed robbery in New Haven on Saturday night.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night at Walt's package store on Columbus Avenue.
Officials said two masked men approached the clerk and demanded money.
According to police, the two suspects took a few dollars and then shot the clerk in the chest.
The store clerk, identified as Rakeshkumar Patel, 41, was taken by ambulance to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Officials said Patel underwent emergency surgery and remains in critical, but stable condition.
New Haven police are continuing to search for the suspects involved in the armed robbery.
The suspects are described as two thin men, both about 5'10."
