NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -
Police in New Haven are investigating after a bicyclist was hit by a car Saturday.
It happened around 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon near the exit off ramp to Interstate 91 on Middletown Avenue.
Police said a New Haven man was driving northeast on Middletown Avenue when a woman on a bicycle made a U-turn into the path of his car and was struck.
Police said the bicyclist, identified as Tina Robida, 21, of West Haven, was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
The driver of the car was not charged. Police said further investigation showed the crash appeared to be the fault of Robida.
A fatal car crash occurred at the same location on Middletown Avenue, earlier Saturday. Police said there appears to be no connection between the two incidents.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
