BRIDGEPORT, CT (AP) -

Former Bridgeport Mayor Joseph Ganim, who served seven years in prison for corruption while in office, is trying to get his law license back.

A three-judge panel is scheduled to hear Ganim's request Tuesday during a public hearing in Bridgeport Superior Court.

In July, a state committee of lawyers recommended that Ganim get his law license back.

Ganim lost his law license after being convicted in 2003 of 16 federal counts for steering city contracts in exchange for hundreds of thousands of dollars in expensive wine, custom clothes, cash and home improvements.

Ganim has worked as a legal assistant at his family's law firm in Bridgeport since being released from prison.
