The Shelton Police Department arrested a man they said was planning to rob a local pizza restaurant over the weekend.
On Sunday, members of the Shelton Police Department, with the assistance of the Ansonia Police Department, arrested 27-year-old Slawomir Kret of Nichols Street in Ansonia after receiving word he was planning on robbing a downtown pizza shop when it was planning on closing its doors for the evening.
After learning of the plan, police said they set up surveillance in the area. Police said they saw Kret and another man arrive and park behind the restaurant waiting for the shop to close.
Police said an officer and his dog approached the vehicle and ordered the two men out. Kret did not comply, police said, and retreated inside the van.
Police said the dog was used and Kret was subdued inside the van.
He was arrested, and police said there were masks, gloves, a hat and a tool-handle weapon inside the van.
The other occupant was not arrested.
Kret was brought to a local hospital to be treated for bites and was then brought to jail where he is currently being held on $75,000 bond.
Kret was charged with criminal attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and interfering with police.
