
Gates have been opened at the 2012 Big E to kick off the start of New England's largest fair.
The Big E, which is also known at the Eastern States Exposition, is often refereed to as New England's best fair.
According to officials, The Big E is the sixth largest agricultural fair in the country, and the largest in New England.
The fair opens Friday with "Be A Kid For A Day." All fairgoers will pay children's admission and it will also be "Military Appreciation Day." All military personnel and dependents with ID, as well as veterans with ID, will receive free admission to the fair.
The Big E opens at 8 a.m. every day with most exhibits opening at 10 a.m.
