NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

A mother and her son were hit by a car in New Haven after the boy ran into the roadway and the mom ran to save him Tuesday morning.

Police were called to 250 Temple St. just before 9:30 a.m. for a report of a woman hit by motor vehicle.

Both were hit by the vehicle and taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, police said. However, officers said the mother was treated for a "non evident injury" and claimed to be suffering from back pain. The child was injured, police added.

The driver of motor vehicle was found not to be at fault in the accident and was not charged, police said.
