NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -
The New Haven Police Department is expected to arrest a child for the death of a 14-year-old boy who died after being hit with a mini-van door while riding his bicycle on Front Street.
Kyshant Moore Jr. was riding on Front Street towards Grand Ave. on Jan. 15 around midnight. He was in the process of crossing a lane that had been narrowed by snow when a black four door vehicle struck him, police said.
After a 20-month long investigation, police secured an arrest warrant for a child who they said opened the driver side door and hit Moore with it. The boy who hit Moore was driving a stolen mini-van, police said.
The name of the child is being with held because of his age. However, the boy is currently being held in a detention facility on unrelated charges, police said.
Dr. Henry Lee and state forensic professionals contributed to the investigation, police said.
