Police identify victim in deadly Bristol stabbing

BRISTOL, CT (WFSB) -

One man is in custody and another man is dead after a stabbing in Bristol on Saturday night.

It happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday night on the second floor of a home located at 73 Wolcott Street.

Police said the victim, identified as Stephen Cassidy, 35, was found moaning and begging for help. According to police, Cassidy was found suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Bristol Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Officials identified the suspect as Michel Torres, 38, of Bristol. According to police, Torres was Cassidy's roommate.

Police said Torres stabbed Cassidy and then barricaded himself in the home. Police said a tactical unit was brought in and the man was eventually taken into custody.

Torres was charged with murder, and is being held on a $1 million bond.

Torres is scheduled to appear in court Monday, Sept. 24.
