EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -
A tractor-trailer that overturned and closed parts of Route 15 and an exit ramp on Interstate 84 Monday morning has finally been cleared from the roadway.
According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, Route 15 south was closed near exit 90, and the exit 57 exit ramp on I-84 west was also closed after the tractor-trailer overturned.
According to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, a tanker truck filled with some sort of manufactured glue overturned around 5 a.m. in the I-84 westbound ramp to the Charter Oak Bridge in Hartford, which prompted the road closures.
According to the DEEP, the capacity of the truck was 4,500 gallons, but Connecticut State Police said polyacrylamide, a nonhazardous resin found in glue began to leak and make its way into a nearby storm drain.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as Joseph Sargent, 54, of Woburn, MA, complained of minor injuries after the crash and he was brought to Hartford Hospital.
Sargent was issued an infraction for failure to maintain a lane.
The scene was cleared after noon and the roads were reopened, according to the DOT.
