WINDSOR, CT (WFSB) -
Crews spent hours repairing two water main breaks in Windsor Thursday morning.
The first one was reported on Palisado Avenue between Pierson Lane and Kennedy Drive around midnight.
According to officials, about a dozen homes and businesses are without water, and crews said repairs could take until about noon.
"They were hunting around for it in the middle night to get it shut off as quickly as possible," said Sam Hinkley of Windsor.
It could also be several hours before another water main break is repaired.
The two are unrelated.
The other break was reported near the intersection of Deerfield Road and Portman Street.
About 20 homes are without water.
"What went through my mind is there are a lot of people who don't have water and this is what they live like each day," said Elliot Williams of Windsor. "We wonder about bathrooms and the stuff you count on and its just not there for you."
The pipes were installed during the 1950s.
The breaks closed one side of the road to be blocked and an officer spent the early morning directing traffic.
