Underground transformer explodes in Hartford

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Emergency officials in Hartford said an underground transformer exploded Friday afternoon.

Few details have been released, but officials from the Hartford Police Department said the transformer exploded in the area of 357 Main St. around 2:40 p.m.

Members of the Hartford Fire Department are at the scene, and Connecticut Light & Power crews are also investigating.

It was unknown if anyone lost power as a result of the explosion.

No injuries have been reported.
