WATERFORD, CT (WFSB) -
The search is on for a suspicious person who had a camera on his shoe in one shoreline community.
Waterford police said a man placed a digital camera on his shoe and was sticking it under dressing room doors at the Crystal Mall. Police will not say what store the suspect was visiting.
Police said it happened at least twice within the last month, on Sept. 8 and 29.
The man was confronted, police said, but he ran off and hasn't been seen.
"It makes me nervous," Katie Janda said. "I go into dressing rooms all the time now. I'm going to have to worry about someone sticking their foot under my door?"
Crystal Mall Manager Karen Tarantino released a statement and said, "At Crystal Mall, the safety and security of our shoppers, retail tenants and employees is our top priority. We proudly maintain a close working relationship with local law enforcement authorities and are in full cooperation with the Waterford Police Department on this matter."
Police have posted a flyer in the mall to warn patrons and solicit possible leads.
"It's very bizarre. There are very bizarre people in this world," said Debbie Janda, who was visiting the mall on Wednesday. "It makes me nervous."
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 860-447-1456.
