Motorists should expect delays along Interstate 95 in Norwalk with construction intended to add lanes and improve drainage and access to Route 1.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation says rock blasting will stop traffic between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. It says motorists should expect significant delays.
The $42.3 million project will include adding speed change lanes that improve access to on- and off-ramps, replacing three overpass bridges to span the additional lanes, increasing vertical clearances and improving drainage and pedestrian and traffic operations.
Speed change lanes are built where interchanges are closely spaced and provide more room for vehicles to speed up or slow down as they enter and exit a highway.
Work is scheduled to be completed in February 2015.
