DERBY, CT (WFSB) -

Police are investigating a violent home invasion that sent a Derby man to the hospital.

It happened just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday night at a two-story building on Elizabeth Street.

Police said the victim, a 52-year-old man, was shot several times by multiple suspects, who entered his home.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Neighbors said they became concerned after hearing noises coming from the building.

"I heard a woman scream, I didn't think much of it at first, but then I heard a couple of pops shortly after that," said Cathy Andrews.

Police are still investigating and have not released any information about any possible suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call Derby police.
