New London police searching for armed robbery suspect

NEW LONDON, CT (WFSB) -

New London police are investigating a robbery that occurred at a CVS Pharmacy on Sunday night.

Officers were called to 817 Bank St. just before 7:30 p.m. for a reported robbery. 

According to police, a man wearing a wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a red stripe across the chest and arms and black pants handed the CVS clerk a note. The note said for the clerk to "empty [your] drawer, just bills, no noise."

During the robbery, witnesses told police that the suspect kept his hand in his pocket as if to indicate he was in possession of a weapon.

He fled the pharmacy on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

No one was injured during the robbery, police said.

The suspect is believed to in his middle 20s and is 5'5" to 5'8" tall.
