Man arrested after being caught inside Salvation Army donation bin

Posted: Updated:

A New Haven man was arrested Wednesday morning after a police officer said they found him stealing items from inside a Salvation Army donation bin in Hamden.

Around 1:30 a.m., a police officer said suspicious activity was observed inside the parking lots of the Salvation Army on Dixwell Avenue.

When the officer went to the front of the store, he said he saw a man, later identified as Michael Rossamondo, of New Haven, inside the front of the donation bin.

When he emerged from inside, the officer said he had a hair dryer.

He was arrested and charged with burglary and larceny.

He was scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on Oct. 22.
