Police in Phoenix have arrested a man they say beat his ex-wife and her boyfriend with a baseball bat while they were asleep at home. Her boyfriend later died from his injuries.
Sgt. Steve Martos with the Phoenix Police Department said 29-year-old David Walker flew in from Chicago and walked into his 28-year-old ex-wife's home through a back door early Thursday morning, grabbed a baseball bat from the garage and attacked his ex-wife and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Adam Moring.
Moring was struck multiple times in the head, according to Martos. Walker's ex-wife was also hit in the head with the bat and then physically assaulted.
Martos said the suspect then forced her to wake up their children, ages 8 and 6, and drive him to Tempe, along with kids.
When they got to Tempe, police said, Walker fled from the car and tossed the bat as he ran away. Police were called and Moring was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators tracked Walker to a Tempe motel and he was arrested Thursday night after a struggle with police.
Martos said Walker refused to talk to police. He faces charges of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, burglary and tampering with evidence.
Adam Moring's uncle, Robert Moring, said a fund has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank in Adam's name. If you have a Wells Fargo account, you can transfer directly to Adam's Fund at account number 1229207962. There is also a Paypal account connected to the Wells Fargo account. Donations can be made via Paypal to email@example.com.
