SEYMOUR, CT (WFSB) -

Around 3:00 PM Saturday afternoon, two cars were involved in a head on crash sending five people to the hospital.

The crash happened on Route 67 in Seymour between Silvermine Road and Cogwheel Lane.

The driver of a 2006 Audi A4 heading east failed to negotiate a turn in the road causing it to veer into the opposite lane.

It struck a 2001 Honda Civic head on.

The operator of the Audi and two children inside sustained injuries as well as the driver and passenger of the Honda who had to be extricated from the vehicle.

All of them were transported to area hospitals. None of the injuries are considered to be life threatening at the time.

Route 67 was closed for about two hours, but has since been reopened.

The Seymour Police Department are still investigating.

No charges have been filed.
