Man hits woman, makes homophobic remarks at a West Hartford restaurant

WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A West Hartford man was arrested after throwing several glasses at a group of women and making homophobic remarks at a restaurant in West Hartford Center early Sunday morning.

Matthew Parry, 25, of West Hartford also punched one of the women in the neck with a closed fist, according to police.

Parry asked the four women to join him at the table at the Shish Kebab House on LaSalle Road, according to the West Hartford Patch.

Parry then began making homophobic remarks.

One of the women threw a glass of water at Parry. That's when he began throwing glasses and beer bottles at them. Police told the Patch one of the women was hit above her eye with a glass, but wasn't injured.

Police said that the women did not know Parry prior to Saturday night.

Parry was charged with intimidation based on bigotry or bias, third-degree assault, second degree breach of peace, and second-degree reckless endangerment. He is due in court Oct. 25.
