Conn. a.g. revokes pension for ex-tax collector

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen has moved to revoke the pension of Oxford's former tax collector who pleaded guilty to larceny for stealing nearly $250,000.

Karen Guillet (gih-lit) pleaded guilty in July to a felony larceny charge and faces up to five years in prison when she is sentenced later this month.

The Connecticut Post reports ( that Jepsen said an agreement revoking her $1,800-a-month pension was filed in state Supreme Court on Wednesday.

State law authorizes the state attorney general to seek to revoke or reduce a pension of a state or municipal official convicted of a crime in connection with his or her public position.

Guillet's lawyer said there will be discussion about whether restitution of nearly $235,000 will affect his client's sentence expected on Oct. 29 in Milford Superior Court.
