FARMINGTON, CT. (WFSB) -

A local rescue organization is holding an adoption drive for purebred and mixed-breed dogs during the next three days.

The SPCA of Connecticut, PETCO and the Connecticut Pet Show have gathered dogs from shelters as close as Bridgeport and as far way as New York, South Carolina and California.

The event is called "Fluffy Dog Invasion" and features mostly mix breed small dogs. However, there are a few larger dogs at the drive as well.

"I want a dog, but I have to wait for my husband to say yes," said Alba Santiago of New Britain. "He's almost there...He's almost there."

The animals are available for adoption at the PETCO on SE Road in Farmington from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and the Connecticut Convention Center on Columbus Boulevard in Hartford from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

"I knew sort of what I wanted and it's going to be a surprise for my husband," said Lois Lesieur of Essex "We talked about it, but I don't know what's going to happen. But, the people here couldn't be nicer."

The adoption fee is $395, which includes spay/neuter, vaccines, health certificates, microchipping and transport. A portion of the fee "goes to funding future local rescues and transports," the release said.
