New Britain man accused of stealing from laundry machine

WALLINGFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A man from New Britain is facing charges after police said he tried to steal money from a coin-operated laundry machine in Wallingford.

Felix Santiago, 23, of New Britain, was arrested early Sunday morning after police said they caught him attempting to break in to the coin compartment of a laundry machine in the Northridge Commons Apartments on North Turnpike Road in Wallingford.

Police said Santiago was in possession of more than $350 in quarters when he was taken into custody.

He's now facing several charges including third-degree burglary, possession of burglar's tools, and sixth degree larceny.

Santiago is being held on a $50,000 bond.

He's scheduled to appear in court Nov. 2.
