BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - A
Bridgeport Fire Department lieutenant charged with breach of peace for
an alleged rant against President Barack Obama has retired.
The Connecticut Post reports (http://bit.ly/OY53xu ) that Paul Neugebauer (NOOG-eh-bower) was accused of grabbing the arm of a Woodbridge man while the two were at a gas station
on Sept. 13. The other man was wearing an Obama 2012 shirt and
displayed a pro-Obama decal on his car. Neugebauer allegedly stuck his
head in the man's car and berated him, using profane language.
He denies grabbing the man.
Neugebauer was due in Milford Superior
Court on Tuesday.
Neugebauer, of West Haven, told the newspaper he didn't retire
because he was losing his job. He has 26 years of service.
Fire Chief Brian Rooney says Neugebauer was on administrative leave and had an option to retire.
