MONROE, CT (WFSB) -

Two men were arrested who were accused of a string of home burglaries in Fairfield County during September and October.

Recently, a Monroe police officer noticed a vehicle matching the description of one used in the burglaries. The officer stopped to talk to the driver, who appeared to be having car troubles.

The man told the officer he did not need any help.

The Monroe Police Department obtained a warrant and searched James Buckley's Shelton home. Officers seized a large amount of jewelry, tools, gloves and small electronic items.

Police arrested Buckley for home break-ins in Monroe and based on their investigation, police are expected to add additional charges for at least 14 home break-ins in six other Fairfield County towns.

Buckley, 20, was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and second-degree larceny. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.

Eammon Donnelly, 30, of Newtown was also arrested in connection with the home break-ins. He was charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, first-degree larceny and first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Officers seized jewelry and burglary tools that were found inside Donnelly's truck.

The police departments in the area held weekly meetings to discuss the burglaries and gather information to catch the suspects.

The case is still under investigation by police.
