Shoreline businesses prepare for Hurricane Sandy

Posted: Updated:

The Old Mystic General Store is just one of the hundreds of businesses along shoreline preparing for Hurricane Sandy.

In March 2010, heavy rains flooded the neighboring Whitford Brook causing severe damage to the store and shutting it down for three months.

Owner Fini McGlinchey said the residents of Mystic supported him during a tough time.

"We came back because our neighbors helped us the last time we had a flood," he said.

However, McGlinchey said he is ready for Hurricane Sandy.

"Besides putting things up higher. There's not a whole lot you can do," he said. "We can't pick the building up and move it. So, we'll just do the best we can."
