Metro-North, other public transportation suspended due to Sandy

HARTFORD, CT(WFSB) -
Several forms of public transportation have been suspended until further notice due to Hurricane Sandy.
Gov. Dannel Malloy announced Sunday that all CTTRANSIT local and express bus services was to be suspended Monday.
Tweed Airport was also shut down as a result of Sandy at 10 p.m. Sunday, according to officials.
The airport will remain closed until further notice.
Officials at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks said many airlines are canceling flights and will continue to do so as Hurricane Sandy inches closer. Bradley officials said the airport will be placed on a reduced schedule Monday and will not resume full flight operations until Tuesday.
Metro-North train service was also shut down Sunday evening. The last trains left at 7 p.m.
Amtrak closed its Northeast Corridor on Monday, according to officials, and all Acela Express, Northeast Regional, Keystone and Shuttle services are canceled until further notice.
In addition, Amtrak officials said, Empire Service, Adirondack, Vermonter, Ethan Allen and Pennsylvanian train services suspended, along with overnight services to and from the East Coast
The Cross Sound Ferry stopped running at 6 p.m. Sunday and officials said there will be no ferry service Monday.
The Bridgeport Port Jefferson Ferry Boat Co. suspended service at 10 p.m., and there is no service Monday or Tuesday.
