NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A 21-year-old driver was injured in Priest Lake on Tuesday morning after their car smashed into a group of trees.

The wreck occurred at about 6:35 a.m. on Bluewater Drive in southeastern Davidson County.

Police said the driver was speeding and hit a mailbox but didn't stop.  The teen then turned a corner and plowed into the trees, sending debris 40 feet.

A woman who was walking her dog said she had to jump out of the way to avoid the vehicle.

Police said the driver has at least a broken leg.  A passenger in the car walked away from the crash.

Both the driver and passenger are expected to survive their injuries.
