HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) -

The Hamden Police Department spent Wednesday night investigating a stabbing and a shooting that occurred within 15 minutes of each other.

A 30-year-old Hamden woman was shot in the back and found in the parking lot of 651 Newhall St. around 9 p.m. She was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, however her condition is unknown.

The victim told police she had recently returned home from taking her children trick-or-treating when a man fired at a group of men standing in the parking lot.

Police believe she was not the intended target and was hit by a stray bullet. Witnesses told police they heard about five gunshots.

A dark-colored vehicle was seen fleeing the scene of the shooting.

Around 9:15 p.m., police were called to the Regency Hills Apartment Complex on Pine Rock Avenue after a 35-year-old man was found bleeding from a stab wound. He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, however his condition is unknown.

After an investigation, police determined the victim's girlfriend, Stephanie Darden, 37, of Hamden stabbed him in the head. Before the stabbing, Darden and the victim had gotten into a fight that had to be broken up by neighbors.

Darden was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. She is being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Meriden Thursday.

The shooting and stabbing are still under investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Hamden Police Department at 203-230-4040.
