NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

Police arrested a man in connection to a fatal shooting on Farren Avenue early Saturday morning.

Michael Mitchell of New Haven turned himself in at police headquarters after police identified him as a suspect.

Police said witnesses told police that three shots were fired by a man named "Mike." These statements, along with other evidence led police to seek out Mitchell.

Police found 32-year-old Marquis Eaddy shot behind a parked car after hearing gunshots during a routine patrol. Eaddy was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Mitchell turned himself in to police a few hours after the incident. Mitchell, a convicted felon, is charged with murder in the first degree and criminal possession of a firearm by a felon.
