Barn destroyed after fire in East Granby

EAST GRANBY, CT (WFSB) -

Firefighters are on the scene of a barn fire on Turkey Hills Road in East Granby near the Granby town line Monday night.

The barn itself along with all of the tools inside and a truck parked next to it were destroyed.

The vinyl siding of a home about 150 feet away from the barn was melted. However the home is still habitable.

A shed was also heavily damaged by the fire.

No one was injured during the fire.

The owner of the barn runs a tree service company along with doing fine woodworking and cabinetry. He uses the barn for both business.

There were reports of an explosion, however nothing is confirmed at this time. Propane tanks were pulled from the barn.

Turkey Hills Road was blocked off by police while firefighters fought the fire. The fire has since been brought under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Lost Acres Fire Department in Granby provided mutual aid.
