NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -
A New Haven man told a would-be mugger that he did not want to be robbed and walked away from him Monday night.
The man told police he was walking on Canner Street around 7 p.m. when he heard a "rustling" sound coming from behind him. He started walking faster and noticed a black man in his 20s behind him, police said.
The suspect confronted the man and told him to empty his pockets. However, the man said "no" and walked into his home, police said.
The man watched as the frustrated suspect walked away, police said.
The suspect is described as a black man, who stands about 5'10'' tall and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and tan pants.
Police said the suspect rode by the house several minutes later on a bicycle.
Anyone with information is asked to call the New Haven Police Department at 203-946-6316.
