One man was seriously injured after a car collided with a Metro North train in Beacon Falls Thursday afternoon.
According to Metro North officials, the crash occurred around 3:10 p.m. near the train station parking lot, just north of the platform. The train, which had left Waterbury around 2:50 p.m., was slowing down to make a scheduled stop when it crashed into a car that was on the tracks.
Emergency services officials were able to get the man out of the vehicle and he was transported to an area hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.
Within 30 minutes, a bus from Metro North took the 30 passengers who were on the train to their destinations.
Metro North is still investigating the crash. Officials are expected to talk to the driver after he recovers from his injuries.
