Connecticut State Police has seized about 60 dogs from a barn in Bethlehem after the animals were found living in "inadequate" conditions Thursday afternoon.

Troopers served search and seizure warrants for cruelty to animals at a property on Watertown Road about 3 p.m.

The animals, which were of various sizes and breeds, were found "in various states of health and the living conditions were deemed inadequate," according to state police.

All the dogs were taken to local shelters and kennels for treatment.

The investigation is still active. No arrests were made on Thursday.
