Officials investigate cause of East Hampton fire

EAST HAMPTON, CT (WFSB) -

Fire officials are investigating the cause of a cottage fire in East Hampton.

East Hampton firefighters were called to the fire at a cottage on Sears Place around 7 p.m. on Friday night.

Officials said the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Mutual aid from Middletown, Cromwell, Marlborough and several other neighboring towns were called to the scene to assist.

Fire officials told Eyewitness News that a fire police officer was injured while directing traffic near the scene. His current condition remains unknown.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
