Vernon police investigate overnight shooting

Police in Vernon are investigating an overnight shooting.

It happened on the grounds of the Free Spirit Café on Kelly Road around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police said a dark colored car was backing out of a parking space in the parking lot when it hit a parked car. According to police, the driver of the car then fled the scene.

Officials said a group of people then began chasing the car, and a male suspect fired several shots at the fleeing vehicle. Authorities said the suspect fled the scene in the same car that had been hit.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male who is approximately 5'6" with a thin build and about 26-years-old. At the time of the incident the suspect was wearing a navy New York Yankees hat, jeans, a dark colored sweatshirt, and a dark colored jacket.

Detectives are also looking to for two other men for questioning that were with the shooter at the time of the incident.

They are looking for a Hispanic male who is approximately 5'9" with a stocky build. He was wearing jeans and a long-sleeved shirt.

Officials are also looking for a Hispanic man with a goatee who is approximately 24 years-old. The man is about 5'6" with a slim build.

Police believe that the car they drove when they fled was blue, mid-sized foreign vehicle, possibly a Nissan or a Toyota. They were last seen heading east bound on Kelly road.

Anyone with information is being asked to call Vernon police.
