A 17-year-old pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck during a hit-and-run accident early Saturday morning.
The teenage male was hit on Whalley Avenue around 3 a.m. and was taken to the St. Raphael's campus of Yale-New Haven hospital with a traumatic brain injury.
After getting statements from witnesses, police are believed to be looking for gray four-door Nissan Altima or a similar mid-sized car. The vehicle is believed to have tinted windows and "significant impact damage to its front end, hood and/ or roof," according to police.
The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with any information about the accident is asked to call the New Haven Police Department at 203-946-6304 or 203-946-6316.
