A North Haven man was arrested by Connecticut State Police after investigators said he was put a "personal ad on a popular website" in an effort to entice children.
Mark Smith, 44, was arrested and charged with criminal attempt to entice a minor and criminal attempt to impair the morals of a child.
Smith was arrested after a several month investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Investigation unit of the state police. According to police, Smith was e-mailing "inappropriate photos and verbage" to an undercover detective, which Smith thought was a 14-year-old boy.
Police said Smith also indicated that he wanted to meet the teenager in a hotel room.
Smith is was being held on a $50,000 bond and was expected to appear in Superior Court in Waterbury on Thursday.
The Department of Children and Families was notified about the arrest because Smith has part-time custody of his daughter.
