Saturday marked the second day in a row that the city's Mobile Community Policing vehicle was parked at the corner of Hamilton and South Bridge streets.
From Noon until midnight, officers were stationed around the vehicle. They not only kept crime at bay, but made in-roads with the people of South Holyoke.
Part of the 12-hour session Saturday was taken up by the South Holyoke Safe Neighborhood Initiative.
The group's goal is to work side-by-side with the police department and to let would-be troublemakers understand what other options are out there.
The South Holyoke Safe Neighborhood Initiative is planning a boxing night on Dec. 8, at the local Boys and Girls Club.
The money raised will go towards keeping area youths off the street by starting a boxing club.
