Wednesday is expected to be a busy day at Bradley International Airport, as an increase in travelers is expected the day before Thanksgiving.

There are new screening procedures that passengers need to know before getting on a flight .

Children under 12 years old and seniors are not required to take their shoes off when going through security.

That change is expected to make things run smoother.

"This will help expedite the screening process as well as ease the process," said Chris Evans of the TSA.

Also, liquids, gels and aerosols only are permitted in small quantities, so make sure if you're bringing any of those items with you to pack them in your checked luggage. A list of the items that cannot be brought on a plane is available at the following link.

"If you can check it into your baggage, it might be easier," said Federal Security Director David Bassett. "You might be able to get through the checkpoint smoother that way."

TSA agents said there are simple things you can do before you leave your home to make travel times better.

"When you pack, make sure to layer your luggage. It makes our jobs a lot easier," Evans said.

As always, make sure you're at the airport at least 90 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

On Tuesday, people were waiting for holiday travelers at Bradley Airport.

"The plans, eat, drink, be merry and hope to God everybody gets along," said Debbie, who was waiting for her family from Orlando.
