Hamden man arrested in 2010 shooting

HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) -

The police in Hamden arrested a 23-year-old man who they said is responsible for the shooting a man in the back in July 2010.

On Monday, Kevin Blackman of Hamden was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and first-degree conspiracy to commit assault.

Blackmon, who was being held at the Carl Robinson Correctional Center in Enfield on unrelated charges, was given an additional $250,000 bond.

Police said officers found John Belcher, 25, lying facedown on Elliot Drive just after midnight on July 2, 2010 and bleeding from a gunshot wound to the back. Belcher was taken to the Hospital of Saint Raphael.

Belcher suffered permanent injuries from he shooting, police said.

Police said Belcher was confronted by three people who were wearing face masks, before being shot. Several shots were fired during the incident, police said.

On Oct. 26, Marquis Winfrey Sr. of Hamden was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and first-degree conspiracy to commit assault.
