A man was killed and a woman is clinging to life after an overnight crash on Interstate 91 in North Haven.
According to officials, the crash occurred on Interstate 91 southbound near exit 10 shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday night.
Crews arrived to find the vehicle in the woods on the right side of the highway with significant damage.
Firefighters had to use the "Jaws of Life" to remove the two occupants from the vehicle.
Both the driver, 24-year-old David Cooley of North Haven and his passenger, 24-year-old Paige Camera of Meriden were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital by ambulance, officials said.
Cooley was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police said Camera is listed in critical condition on life support at this time.
The crash remains under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed it is asked to call State Police Troop I.
