Connecticut officials will be handing out awards to 19 people, businesses and civic groups for their voluntary efforts to improve the environment.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has scheduled the GreenCircle Awards ceremony for 2 p.m. Monday at the agency's headquarters in Hartford.
Among those being honored is a restaurant that composts cups and packaging into mulch, an inn that installed an electric vehicle charging station for its clients and a company that won certification for its good environmental practices.
The state has given more than 1,000 GreenCircle awards to people, businesses, civic groups, schools and other institutions for their involvement in more than 1,400 projects since 1998.
