A tractor-trailer driver is being accused of stealing guns in Springfield, MA and then selling them with another man in Stratford.
On Nov. 23, the Stratford Police Department arrested Elliot Perez in a joint investigation with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with the assistance of the Bridgeport Police Department.
Perez, a tractor trailer driver for Pace Motor Lines in Stratford, is being accused of stealing 111 handguns from the Smith & Wesson Plant in Springfield on Nov. 8.
Police said the guns were brought to Bridgeport by Perez where they said he took them off the truck and some of them come into possession by Michael Murphy.
Police said Perez and Murphy then allegedly sold an unknown number of guns on the street.
Police charged Perez with 111 counts of criminal possession of a firearm, 111 counts of theft of a firearm, one count of illegal sales of a firearm, one count of transfer of a firearm by someone ineligible to possess and five counts of having a weapon in a motor vehicle.
He's being held on $500,000 bond and is expected to appear in court Dec. 6.
Murphy is being charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and theft of a firearm.
He was released on $10,000 bond and was expected to appear in court Dec. 6.
