WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A legendary pizza restaurant could be headed to the Elmwood section of West Hartford.

According to West Hartford Director of Community Development Rob Rowlson, Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, also known by most as Pepe's, is headed to West Hartford if its application is approved by the town council Tuesday night

The Pepe's is expected to use 3,200 square feet of the New Britian Avenue shopping center and will be turned into a 72-seat restaurant. The pizza restaurant will be located near the Puppy Center, which is expected to remain in the plaza.

"We have some great restaurants down there. The Corner Pub, Tappas, the Fernwood, Beach-Land Tavern, Goldstiens and now, Pepe's Pizza," Rowlson said.

The pizzeria is expected to bring in between 20 to 30 jobs and could open next summer.

There are Pepe's locations in New Haven, Fairfield, Manchester, Danbury and at Mohegan Sun as well as one in New York.
