ELLINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Volunteers are needed to help with the building of a home for an injured Marine in Ellington.

Sgt. Greg Caron lost both legs just below his knees after his vehicle hit a roadside bomb last year.

For months, members of the community along with a group called Building Homes for Heroes have been working on building a new home for Caron including his father, who has cleared the lot of trees.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new home in September and now, volunteers are needed to help build the frame of the house.

The work on the frame begins on Dec. 3. The house should be completed within a year, according to building officials.

As for Caron, he is expected to go back to school for physical therapy and looks forward to resuming running.
