Two students suffered minor injuries after the school bus that they were on was involved in crash in Wallingford Wednesday morning, according to emergency officials.
According to police, John Baldino, 76, of North Branford was driving 1997 Nissan pickup on Harrison Road in just east of the Interstate 91 overpass around 7:45 a.m.
Police said Baldino "encountered black ice on the roadway surface of the bridge and lost control of his vehicle." He crashed into a school bus, which was carrying 13 Holy Trinity Catholic School students.
Baldino was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with a life-threatening head injury. He is currently in the intensive care unit at the hospital.
None of the children nor the bus driver required hospitalization, according to police.
Harrison Road was closed in area, while police investigated the crash. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Wallingford Police Department at 203-294-2819.
